Ted's Big Ride---Day Fifteen

Salton City, CA to Camarillo, CA
May 14, 2006

Heading toward the coast to prep for Pacific Coast Highway leg of the Adventure. I'm currently (1:30pm EDT) in Indio, CA in a Best Western air conditioned lobby, very nice. At the last minute I got an email from friends, Dave and Gayle in Camarillo, and will look them up later in the day. Now, it's later in the day, and I ended up staying with gracious hosts, Dave and Gayle. Gayle has a beautiful house overlooking Oxnard and Point Mugu.

9:51:44 AM

The morning look at my campsite, and the sign that caught my eye. I'm as impressed in the daylight as I was in the moonlight setting up this great find . . . with no neighbors!
10:32:34 AM All packed up again and ready to go.
10:54:41 AM I don't think I'd have done better in Mecca - my beach Salton Sea beach was a fortunate find.
12:51:44 PM After following Rt 66 for so long across the country, this sign just seemed upside-down. Does California have things flipped?
3:14:36 PM Riding West on I-10, across desert countryside, it is amazing to see the snow topped Santa Anna Mountains so 'close'.
10:02:05 PM One of the beautiful flowers in Gayle's yard. The grounds are full of lemon, orange, and avocado trees abundant with fruit as well as lovely roses, etc.
