Ted's Big Ride 2009---Day Twenty-Two

This morning we all went out to visit the Meddenhall Glacier, it is BIG and there is a very nice visitors center. Ice continuously falls off, but only in little pieces, little being relative of course. A forest service employee told me that in the 3 years that she has worked this site, she has only witnessed 2 major calfings. So the odds of catching one on a single days' visit are indeed remote.

A few photos from George D. King with the US Forest Service, Tongass National Forest, Juneau, Alaska. I met George in the parking lot where we shared stories. George said these are file photos in/around the Mendenhall, taken by various members of the staff...Enjoy, and thanks George...so nice to meet you!
