Ted's Big Ride 2009---Day Thirty-Three

Grants Pass, OR to Fort Bragg, CA

Left Grants Pass early and headed down US-101 to Rt-1 which takes you thru some mighty redwood forests. I did not stop, except for gas, along the way because I wanted to reach Ft Bragg by mid afternoon to meet my cousin Paula and her husband David. The road was windy and a real blast to ride, with quite abrupt evevation changes as can be seen above. Anyhow, I got to Ft Bragg, unloaded the bike, and we all headed out for dinner. Had a great Wild Salmon dinner which I could not get in Alaska because they ship a good portion of their fish out of state. One of the restaurant managers told me that the locals just will now come to the restaurant and BUY fish after they have been catching them all day/week/month/year/lifetime. The locals buy salad, steak, pork chops, burgers...but not fish. Therefore, unless they are expecting a boatload of tourists, they do not stock must fish. Go Figure.
