|Leland, NC to Hardeeville, SC|
|Date: June 7, 2014 tb|
Stayed up too late last night watching history shows commerating 70th anniversary of D-day. Had a very nice breakfast at the Holiday Inn Express in Leland and got on the road at 10:30am. First stop of the day was at Sunset Beach (Bird Island), which besides a beach-front community, is also a turtle and bird sanctuary. It is the last coastal island located in NC.
Mostly an easy ride today, never any traffic. I am (mostly) staying on state roads and avoiding the Interstate as much as possible. This makes for a more relaxed pace and more chance to view the local area.
I did have another malfunction - I got a new bluetooth headset and installed it into my helmet. Worked fine the first two days, but now the indicator light identifies a 'battery failure condition'. I quess I will have to return it when I get back home. Good news is that I could not hear it (at all) with my ear plugs in.
Well, here it is late again 1:01 AM and I need to pack it in. Good night all!

accessable only by foot
|1:11 PM - Entering SC (note the new ear-plugs I got for free at local Harley Dealler)
|1:46 PM - King Kong is reimagined at a new Entertainment Center being constructed somewhere in the Myrtle Beach area. It is really quite large and will possibly be a big tourist/vacationeers attraction.|
|2:36 PM - This is supposedly one of the top 10 gardens in the US. Given the time of day, I didn't think I could do it justice...moving on.
||All the trees were FULL of Spanish Moss
6:24 PM - While getting gas in Jacksonboro, SC.
On any trip across America, one should always find a Flo's Diner.
6:57 PM - A shot from my iPhone handlebar mount. Notice the rain. I looked at the weather/sky at about 5:30 and it did not look promising, so I donned the rain gear again and was glad I did. This rain thing is becomming a real pain.
Anyway, at 7:45 PM I saw a Motel-6 billboard advertising rooms at $34. This was too good to pass up as it was still raining on me.
Nothing much at all here in Hardeeville. Walked 0.3 miles to a Waffle House for some dinner. The rain was reduced to a sprinkle.
I was able to get my bike under the eves in front of the room, so it should be dry in the AM.
