|The Dalles to Gladstone to The Dalles - Twice|
|August 11 and 12, 2015 (Updated: August 15, 2015)...cp|
On Tuesday, I arrived at the dealer at 9:30am. I tell the service advisor, Karl Lipke, my tire and luggage rack problems. He writes up my service order and I walk to a local coffee shop for some of the good coffee that Washington/Oregon are famous for. I return to the dealers and W-A-I-T.
Around 1:30pm, Karl tells me that there is good news and bad news. The good news is that the tire change has been completed and the old luggage rack was removed. The bad news is that because it was not a standard Harley rack (they didn't make one for my model) they didn't have the part and the closest one was in Nevada. Maybe, I should try to schedule the repair at a later point in the trip. I said I wouldn't like to proceed with a damaged luggage carrier; can we get the replacement part overnighted? Karl said that was possible if the order was placed within the next 30 minutes before the shipping time cutoff. Immediatly I said, make it happen. So my bike has to be put back together so I can ride it back to my motel, 85 miles away and then brought back on Wednesday.
So I go through the same routine today, Wednesday, and all goes as planned. I used 2 days waiting and not sightseeing or just relaxing. I did take some of the local scenic highway back today and have included a few pictures of the many waterfalls I encountered alomg the way.
Tomorrow I am heading toward Mt. Hood and into the heart of the Oregon high desert. I have no clue as to what I will discover. Stay tuned. Cheers.
